On Wednesday, April 28, 2021, Pastor Peter Kerr, Dr. Cheryl Rolle and Elder Roderick Sands were elected as president, executive secretary, and treasurer, respectively, of the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) during the mid-year virtual meetings of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists (IAD) transmitted from the division’s headquarters in Miami, Florida.
The Atlantic Caribbean Union has been in existence for just over ten years having been officially organized on November 29, 2010. It was on March 27, 2018 that Pastor Kerr was first elected president and Dr. Rolle executive secretary of ATCU after Pastor Leonard Johnson (the first president of ATCU) was elected as the executive secretary of the Inter-American Division. We congratulate the newly elected three administrators of ATCU and, on their behalf, solicit your continued prayers and support as they give leadership to furthering the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the union or regional church territory.
Pastor Peter Kerr, newly elected president of ATCU, expressed gratitude to God on behalf of his fellow administrators for the opportunity to serve the union for another term.
“We simply make ourselves available to God and ask Him to place us where He could use us best. So, we accept with gratitude and humility the incredible honor that God has placed upon us to have been called upon to serve the people of God in this great union, especially in these most challenging, yet exciting times.”
When asked about some projected plans or focus that would propel the union through to 2025, Pastor Kerr had this say, “Our work has been given to us by God Himself Who has called upon us to boldly and fearlessly proclaim the messages of the three angels of Revelation 14:6-12, and He wants us to complete this task in our generation.
We have enthusiastically embraced the theme of the General Conference, for this five-year period, “I Will Go”. We pray that God will give us the wisdom that we need to lead His people in this union to total member involvement, so that each one will be willing to go, to do, to dare, and to live faithfully for Him.”
During the same meetings, the administrators for twelve other union missions within IAD were also elected. There are 24 unions or major regions throughout IAD and because ATCU is a union mission, the officers are elected by the executive body of the next wider organization of the church, which in this instance, is the Inter-American Division. Atlantic Caribbean Union, which is headquartered in Nassau, The Bahamas, comprises four fields, namely, the Cayman Islands Conference, the North Bahamas Conference, the South Bahamas Conference, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Conference. In addition, Northern Caribbean University, which is located in Mandeville, Jamaica, is jointly owned and operated by ATCU and the Jamaica Union.
