A Look at Vision One Million

Today I share with you excerpts from the Vision One Million document with the hope of further sensitizing you to this wonderful initiative of the Inter-American Division and by extension the Atlantic Caribbean Union
What Is Vision One Million?
It is the principal soul winning plan for the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists for 2011-2015. The objective is to recruit and enlist one million members throughout the Division to become passionate disciples, actively involved as lay preachers, Bible instructors, small group leaders, intercessors, Bible Workers and Lay witnesses. Additionally, the plan is to baptize one million members by 2014/15 within our division. As for the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ACUM), the goal is to contribute at least 8,000 new believers and volunteers during this quinquennium to the over all goal.

A Biblical Basis

The command of Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20 must be understood as a corporate responsibility to which every believer is obligated and must be organized and trained to fulfill. Ellen White, in offering inspired counsel to the church said: “The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been entrusted with the last warning message. They are to allow nothing else to absorb their attention. The proclamation of special solemn truths is the most important activity and that proclamation is to be worldwide in extent” (Testimonies Vol. 9, p. 19).

Each Church Has a Responsibility

The urgency of the gospel demands that Christ’s witnesses do not wait to be approached, but as the sent ones, they are proactive in going to those who need an upgrade in their understanding of their faith relationship. Every church has a corporate witness to its local community. Unfortunately, some churches have lost their influence in their community as a result of infighting, lovelessness, or a church split. The church must seek to keep its witness strong and vibrant in the community. Therefore, as elders and pastors, you must engage your flock to go out into the community and share their faith with everyone who is in their personal circle of influence.

Official Launch

Sabbath, September 3, 2011 is the official launch throughout the Division and by extension ACUM. Every member enlisted into the Vision One Million movement should begin to prepare his/her friends to attend a local Seventh-day Adventist church for a ten days evangelistic campaign from February 4-11, 2012. It is anticipated that on February 11, 2012 the Union will have its largest baptism to date. Already, I have been assigned to do a short campaign in the Caribbean Union.

Therefore, September 3, 2011 is very important. The Personal Ministries Director at the Union, in tandem with the Union's Administration, is giving serious attention to effective leadership for a successful launch of Vision One Million in every local field and church.

In this regard, I will be in South Bahamas along with Pastor Al Powell and Elder Roderick Sands; Pastor Peter Kerr, Executive Secretary, will travel to the North Bahamas Conference; Pastor Clarke will launch in the Cayman Islands Conference, and Pastor Smith will do likewise in the Turks and Caicos Mission. We sincerely regret our inability to deploy representatives to the Cayman Islands Conference and the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission.

The entire Sabbath is designed for the launching of Vision One Million. The Sabbath School program is entitled, “ Holy Zeal for Vision One Million,” and the Sermon, “ Everything God Does Is Evangelism;” the Ten Minutes period, “ Phase of Church Growth,” and the Adventist Youth Service, “ Seeking the Lost.”
