Former Union Secretary and University President Passes

Pastor Kenneth G. Vaz, a former Executive Secretary of West Indies Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and also former president of West Indies College (now Northern Caribbean University) passed away recently at his home in Jamaica. Dr. Vaz is also remembered as a passionate preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ, a competent Biblical scholar, and an unflinching apologist of the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Many of the ministers, who presently serve in ATCU, sat at his feet during the many courses he taught at the university, particularly in the area of Old Testament Studies. Pastor Johnson, president of ATCU, noted that “again another solider has passed.” He reminisces that Dr. Vaz was a friend, scholar and child of God. “We in the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) mourn his passing and extend condolences to his family and wider family of the Jamaica Union (JAMU).” The Bible, the source of his teaching and preaching, says, “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away” (1 Peter 5:4, NIV).
