ACUM Offers Condolences on the Passing of Dr. Basil Reid

The Atlantic Caribbean Union expresses condolences and sympathies to the family of Pastor Basil Reid, a former president of the West Jamaica Conference and former departmental director of the previous West Indies Union Conference.
Dr. Reid, at the time of his death, was the Director of the Ellen White Research Center at Northern Caribbean University. The entire staff at ACUM including the administrators, Pastor Leonard Johnson, Pastor Peter Kerr, and Elder Roderick Sands , and the departmental directors, offer commiseration to our sister union, the Jamaica Union Conference. Our prayers for strength and comfort are extended on behalf of his wife Valda, his two daughters Mikhala and Anecia, and other family members.

During his forty plus years of service to the church, Pastor Reid has served along-side many of the administrators, pastors and departmental directors within the present Atlantic Caribbean Union. The funeral service for Dr. Reid will take place at Seventh-day Adventist Conference Center in Mount Salem, St. James, Jamaica on Sunday, August 19, 2012.

Even in the midst of sorrow and bereavement, in the words of the Apostle Paul, we say “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. (1 Cor. 1:3,4 NIV)
