Union President in East Caribbean Conference

By: Communication Department, ATCU

On Thursday, April 4, 2013, Pastor Leonard A. Johnson, president of the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU), conducted a series of leadership workshops at the Rejens Hotel in Dominica, one of the territories of the East Caribbean Conference which is headquartered in Barbados.
Ten pastors and two principals attended the sessions which covered the organizational structure of the church; organizing one's life for service; and the seven principles of Christian leadership. Coordinating the training were the conference president, Pastor David Beckles, and Pastor George McCallum, ministerial and stewardship director.

Pastor Johnson also conducted a stewardship seminar on Sabbath, April 6 for pastors, elders, and stewardship leaders at the Dominica Seventh-day Adventist High School. During his first presentation, Pastor Johnson set a biblical basis for stewardship using Isaiah chapter 6 as the key text. Next, he sought to answer the question “what is stewardship?” He also looked at practical ways of explaining stewardship while addressing the church budget and the relationship of the local church to the conference, union and General Conference.

The request for Pastor Johnson to lead out in this seminar came as a result of interest generated from reading his second book entitled “When Stewards Behold God.” The book, which is a compilation of 14 stewardship sermons, was the book of the year for the Inter-American Division in 2011.
