ACUM’s Church Boards to Participate in IAD Committee Meeting

By: Communication Department

On October 27, 2012, the Inter-American Division (IAD) will officially launch 2013 as “The Year of the Laity.” The IAD hopes to lead one million persons to Christ in baptism over the next five years.
Because it views the laity as the largest group that will help to realize this goal, the IAD has designated 2013 as the Year of the Laity under the theme “Rekindle the Passion, Fan the Flames, Share the Joy,” anticipating that this special year will inspire and motivate the lay persons of the Adventist Church in Inter-America to continue to proclaim the gospel, leading to thousands of souls being baptized.

The launch, scheduled to take place during the Inter-American Division’s year-end committee meetings in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, will be streamed live over the internet beginning at 3:00 p.m. local time in Honduras, 5:00 p.m. in the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands, and 4:00 p.m. in the Cayman Islands.

Pastor Israel Leito, president of the IAD, is inviting all church boards to participate in this year’s session as plans for the year of the laity will be discussed. Each pastor within the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ACUM) territory is to schedule a location with good internet access and convene a special board meeting in order to tap into the event.

In his communication to all the field leaders and personal ministries directors within ACUM, Pastor Al Powell, personal miniseries director of the Atlantic Caribbean Union, noted that because of the high level of importance placed upon this program, the local congregation ought to be made aware of what the plans are.

In addition, the personal ministries department of IAD sends out frequent updates in the “Revive” newsletter published just for this event. The latest update, number 6, is now available on the IAD’s web-site at or the ACUM”S website at
