Atlantic Caribbean Union Adventist Schools to Observe Week of Prayer

By Henry R. Moncur III | ATCU Communication

Adventist schools across the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) will join their sister schools throughout the Inter-American Division in observing the annual Week of Prayer during March 8–13, 2026. This focused week invites students, teachers, and school communities to pause from routine academics and seek God through worship, reflection, and prayer. The elementary division’s theme is Growing Strong through Prayer, while the high school division’s theme is The Ripple Effect: Living as a Disciple-maker.

Building Faith in Students

Throughout The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Turks and Caicos Islands, campuses will host daily devotional services, prayer sessions, and age-appropriate spiritual presentations designed to strengthen students’ faith and deepen their relationship with God. The emphasis of the Week of Prayer is not only on learning about God, but also on experiencing His presence in a personal way.

A key feature during the week is the Day of Prayer which will take place in Adventist schools on March 11, offering a focused time for collective prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth.

The initiative highlights the important role of Christian education in shaping the spiritual character of young people. In addition to reinforcing biblical values, the Week of Prayer encourages students to bring their concerns, hopes, and dreams to God, fostering trust in Him during their formative years.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Cheryl Rolle, ATCU Education director, shared,
“The Week of Prayer creates a sacred space within our schools where students can encounter God in a meaningful way. These moments of worship and reflection help them understand that prayer is not just something we do, but a relationship we build with God every day.”

Extending Beyond the Classroom

Teachers and school leaders view the week as an opportunity to model faith in action by guiding students in prayer and spiritual discussion. Many schools will involve local pastors, chaplains, and church members to support the spiritual growth of the students during the week’s activities.

As Adventist schools across the Atlantic Caribbean Union observe this Week of Prayer, administrators are hopeful that the impact will extend beyond the classroom, as students carry the lessons learned into their homes and communities, becoming young ambassadors of faith, hope, and service.
