Nelda Rose Dracket was born in the picturesque settlement of Tarpum Bay on the island of Eleuthera, Bahamas. From her youth, she was deeply involved in church life, serving as a Sabbath School Superintendent at age 12 and later as Sabbath School Secretary while attending Northern Caribbean University (formerly West Indies College). These early experiences in ministry helped shape her lifelong commitment to service, education, and spiritual growth.
She completed her secondary education at Preston Albury High School in Rock Sound, Eleuthera, then continued to higher education with dedication and excellence. Nelda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Education from Northern Caribbean University, followed by both a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from Atlantic Union College, Massachusetts, USA. To expand her leadership and administrative skills, she later completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI).
In 1983, Nelda married Pastor Reinaldo Dracket, and together they served faithfully in ministry for 40 years until their retirement in 2023. Their union has been blessed with three children—Deandro, Demiko, and Denisha—and she is the proud grandmother of three grandsons. For the past 37 years, the Cayman Islands has been her beloved home, and the place where she has made lasting contributions in both education and ministry.
Professional service has been a hallmark of Nelda’s life. She served as a classroom teacher with the Cayman Islands Government for 15 years, nurturing excellence and inspiring hundreds of students. Her leadership abilities later led to her appointment as Principal of Cayman Academy, a position she held with commitment and distinction for three years.
Her dedication to ministry extended strongly into church administration. Nelda served the Cayman Islands Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as Sabbath School Director for eight years and as Education Director for two years. Her commitment to the growth of the church and the fulfillment of its mission was demonstrated most profoundly in her labor within the Sabbath School Department—truly the heart of the church. Through her leadership, she strengthened programs, empowered members, and helped build a spiritually engaged and mission-focused community.
Throughout her life, Nelda Rose Dracket has exemplified unwavering faith, servant leadership, and excellence in all she undertakes. Her legacy continues to inspire her family, her church, her students, and the many lives touched by her ministry and dedication.
