On January 10, 2026, churches across the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) will unite in observing Health Ministries Emphasis Day, a special occasion dedicated to highlighting God’s call to holistic well-being: body, mind, and spirit. This emphasis affirms the Seventh-day Adventist belief that health is an essential part of Christian stewardship and discipleship.
Scripture reminds us, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” (3 John 2). Health Ministries Emphasis Day provides an opportunity for members and communities alike to reflect on how faith and healthy living work together to support a life of service and witness.
Health as a Matter of Stewardship
The Adventist health message teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19–20). Caring for our physical, mental, and emotional health is therefore an act of worship. Choices related to nutrition, exercise, rest, emotional balance, and trust in God directly affect our ability to think clearly, serve faithfully, and live abundantly.
Health Ministries Emphasis Day calls believers to recommit themselves to God’s principles of health, recognizing that prevention, balance, and lifestyle choices are vital components of faithful living.
The Mission of Health Ministries in ATCU
Across ATCU, the Health Ministries Department plays a vital role in bridging faith and practical life. Through education, outreach initiatives, and compassionate service, this department seeks to improve quality of life while opening doors for meaningful spiritual conversations within our communities.
Health Ministries Emphasis Day also celebrates the dedication of health professionals, ministry leaders, and volunteers who view health outreach as a powerful form of evangelism, meeting physical needs while pointing hearts to Christ.
A Word from the ATCU Health Ministries Department Leadership
Speaking on the significance of the day, Imterniza McCartney, ATCU Health Ministries director, noted that “Health Ministries Emphasis Day reminds us that God cares about every aspect of our lives. When we embrace His principles for healthy living, we are better equipped to serve, to witness, and to live out our faith with clarity and purpose. Our goal in ATCU is to empower members to see health not just as information, but as ministry.”
A Call to Action and Commitment
Health Ministries Emphasis Day on January 10 is more than a date on the calendar; it is a call to action. Members are encouraged to assess their lifestyle choices, support local health initiatives, and participate in programs that promote wellness within the church and the wider community.
As ATCU observes this special emphasis, it is the goal that it will renew our collective commitment to honoring God through healthy living, compassionate service, and intentional outreach, trusting that when we care for the bodies God has given us, we glorify Him and bless others.
