Honoring the Messengers of the Printed Gospel

By Henry R. Moncur III | ATCU Communication

The Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) will observe Literature Evangelist Emphasis Day on Sabbath, April 18, 2026, inviting churches across the union territory to highlight the ministry of literature evangelists and their vital role in the church’s mission.  Literature evangelists carry the gospel from door to door, community to community, and home to home through Christian literature, and their work remains a frontline expression of outreach.

A Ministry That Still Speaks Powerfully Today
Literature evangelists have long served as frontline missionaries, bringing messages of hope, health, and salvation directly into households. Through books, magazines, and study materials, they create opportunities for spiritual conversations and plant seeds of faith in places where traditional evangelism may not easily reach.

A Word from the ATCU Publishing Ministries Director
Andrew Burrows, Publishing Ministries director for the ATCU, emphasized the ongoing relevance of this ministry:
“Literature evangelists remain some of our most consistent and visible missionaries in the Atlantic Caribbean Union. In a region where conversation begins at the doorstep and trust is built through relationships, their work continues to open hearts to the message of Christ. Literature Evangelist Emphasis Day reminds us that every piece of literature shared is a silent preacher, carrying hope into homes long after the visit is over.”
Burrows also noted that literature evangelism addresses practical needs through resources on health, family life, and personal development.

Looking Ahead
As April 18 approaches, congregations are encouraged to plan meaningful worship services and outreach activities that uplift the work of literature evangelists. This may include dedicating a portion of the Sabbath service to recognize their efforts, organizing community distributions of Christian literature, or inviting members to commit to supporting Publishing Ministries through prayer and involvement.
Literature Evangelist Emphasis Day reminds us that the gospel moves not only by voice and sermon but also by page and print, extending Christ’s message into everyday life, one home and one heart at a time.
