Strengthening Families Across the Atlantic Caribbean

By Henry R. Moncur III | ATCU Communication

Across the Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU), Seventh-day Adventist churches, in cooperation with the Inter-American Division, dedicate a week to the spiritual health and unity of families. Christian Home and Marriage Week will be observed February 14–21, 2026, highlighting the biblical truth that marriage and the home are God’s original design for humanity.

This year’s theme, Family, Faith, and Focus in a Digital World, invites families to navigate modern technology wisely while keeping Christ at the center of the home. Rather than viewing technology as an adversary, the theme portrays it as a tool that can strengthen relationships, deepen faith, and keep families aligned with God’s plan for marriage and family life.

Throughout the week, churches will host worship services, seminars, devotionals, and family-centered activities designed to uplift couples, parents, and children. Two special Sabbaths anchor the observance: Christian Marriage Day on February 14, celebrating the covenant and beauty of marriage, and Christian Home Day on February 21, emphasizing nurturing Christ-centered homes. A range of resources (sermons, children’s stories, and seminar guides) are available to support programming and can be downloaded at the resource site: https://family.adventist.org/resources/resource-book/2026rb/

A Particular Focus in the Atlantic Caribbean Union

A highlight for ATCU this year is a weekend of seminars during February 13–14, 2026, in the Turks and Caicos Islands Conference, featuring Drs. Willie and Elaine Oliver, Family Ministries directors of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. This event will provide practical guidance and spiritual encouragement for families navigating the digital age.

Within ATCU, which serves The Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and the Turks and Caicos Islands, Christian Home and Marriage Week remains a valued annual emphasis. Amid growing social and economic pressures on marriages and homes, churches mobilize to strengthen family life, both within the church and in local communities. The 2026 theme is especially relevant to the ATCU territory where family ties and spiritual heritage remain central to community life. Leaders encourage families to use the week to reconnect spiritually, strengthen communication, and recommit to God’s design for marriage and the home.

The Importance of the Week to Families and Marriages

Pastor Andrew Burrows, ATCU Family Ministries director, underscored the significance of Christian Home and Marriage Week for families across the territory. He stated, “Christian Home and Marriage Week reminds us that marriage and family were created by God and must remain anchored in Him, even in a fast-paced digital world.” He added, “When families intentionally set aside time to worship, pray, and refocus on God’s design for marriage and the home, they strengthen their faith and their relationships. Families that keep Christ at the center, even amid constant online distractions, become the spiritual backbone of our churches and a powerful witness in our communities.”

This message resonates with the broader mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church: strong, Christ-centered families are central to both personal faith journeys and our collective witness to the world.

Looking Ahead

Christian Home and Marriage Week continues to play an important role in helping families thrive in a rapidly changing world. By focusing on marriage, family, and the Sabbath, the church provides tools and guidance for nurturing Christ-centered homes and encourages families to honor God’s design in their daily lives.

As February 14–21 approaches, ATCU families and churches are invited to fully participate in the week’s activities, using this time to deepen relationships, strengthen homes, and honor God’s plan for family life, finding practical and spiritual tools to navigate the challenges of modern society.
