The Atlantic Caribbean Union (ATCU) is preparing to welcome a familiar and highly respected leader—Dr. Leonard A. Johnson, a general vice president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists —during August 25-30, 2025, in Nassau, Bahamas.
This special six-day visit will bring together administrators, pastors, members, and friends from across The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, and Turks and Caicos for a time of worship, vision-casting, and spiritual renewal.
A Leader Returning Home
Johnson is no stranger to ATCU. He served as the first president of the Atlantic Caribbean Union from 2010 to 2018 and helped to shape the mission and identity of the union. Now serving on the global stage, his return is expected to be both a homecoming and a time of challenge—calling the union to fresh dedication in ministry.
Johnson is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of The Bahamas, attend a leadership gathering with administrators and pastors to share insights from his work and to listen to local perspectives on mission opportunities and challenges, and to visit several of the Adventist churches to share a word of encouragement.
A service of appreciation to God and celebration of God’s guidance for Johnson’s life and ministry is planned for August 20, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Why You Should Attend
This visit offers a rare opportunity to hear from one of the global Adventist church’s top leaders, and specifically, someone deeply connected to the history, growth, and mission of ATCU. Whether you are a church officer, a young person exploring ministry, or simply someone wanting to be inspired, these two days promise to be a catalyst for personal and collective spiritual growth.
The ATCU, headquartered in Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas, comprises 27,694 members across four fields: the Cayman Islands Conference, the North Bahamas Conference, the South Bahamas Conference, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Conference. Additionally, Northern Caribbean University in Mandeville, Jamaica, is co-owned and operated by both ATCU and the Jamaica Union.
